It’s
a great pleasure to us to present you, dear reader, the smallest community
within the greater municipality of Rhens.
Brey is situated about 10 km South of Koblenz on the Rhine. The
outstanding cultural landscape of the Rhine valley dominated by its unique
slate mountains was inscribed on the World Heritage list of the UNESCO on
28 June 2002
Brey
surely contributed to this honour by locating the only roman underground
water tunnel canal North of the Alps.
Originally
our community was a rural parish . But during the last 25 years Brey has
become a modern residential community lying nestled in the valley of the
Rhine surrounded by an appealing landscape. Today it is an acknowledged
place of tourism. Our camping site situated directly on the borders of the
river is out of reach of high water and offers a wonderful panoramic view.
The
local catering trade (hotel and restaurant) as well as a wine tavern (seasonal
offer of self-produced wine) offer you a tempting choice of good plain
regional specialities of food and drink.
Small
workshops as well as a variety of shopping possibilities add to the
attraction of Brey.
Hiking
trails, a golf hotel situated on the hills above Brey and numerous sites
to see including centuries-old half timbered houses invite you to come and
stay for a holiday in Brey.
